Microfinance Banks and Rural Development
Summary. Microfinance banks launched by Nigeria's Central Bank in 2005 have positively impacted rural development by extending credit and mobilizing deposits, though their full potential remains unrealized. The study found positive regression coefficients across key performance indicators, but effects were not statistically significant. The authors recommend government investment in infrastructure and macroeconomic stability to strengthen microfinance institutions' capacity to support rural enterprises.
