Microfinance Helps to Rural Women for Poverty Reduction in the District of Bogra, Bangladesh

Isahaque Ali, Muhammad Shariful Islam, Zulkarnain A. Hatta · 2015 · Sociology and Anthropology

Summary. A study of 400 microfinance beneficiaries in Bangladesh's Bogra District found that microfinance programs produced minimal poverty reduction outcomes. Only housing status improved among participants. The research revealed no significant gains in household income, education, employment, health, nutrition, sanitation, or women's empowerment. The authors propose a comprehensive poverty reduction model integrating policy reform, disaster management, skills training, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and women's rights.
