Clean energy access gap across urban and rural habitations: Do innovation and income level matter?
Summary. This study examines why rural areas lag behind cities in accessing clean energy across income levels. The researchers find that innovation, foreign investment, and refugee populations actually widen the urban-rural energy gap in most countries, though refugee inflows help reduce it in wealthy nations. The findings suggest that standard development drivers don't automatically benefit rural communities equally.
