Digital Divide and Classifying Social Class in Rural Development: Voices from the Secondary Data of Field

Gilang Tresna Putra Anugrah, Sofyan Sjaf, Tantan Hermansah · 2024 · Jurnal Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Media Pemikiran dan Dakwah Pembangunan

Summary. This study analyzes the digital divide in rural Indonesia using secondary data from Neglasari Village. The researchers found that lower-income residents, who comprise the majority, experience the largest digital divide despite spending the most on communication costs. The findings suggest that poverty and social class directly influence access to development information and digital resources, creating unequal development outcomes. The authors recommend that village planners account for social class dynamics when designing targeted development programs.
