Gender Norms and Agricultural Innovation: Insights from Six Villages in Bangladesh
Summary. Gender norms in Southwest Bangladesh significantly shape how men and women engage with agricultural innovation in aquaculture, fisheries, and farming. The study of six villages reveals that gender norms interact with broader inequalities to either enable or constrain innovation differently for different people. Technical organizations promoting innovation must address underlying gender norms and their effects on motivation and outcomes, rather than simply identifying gender gaps.
