Making Sense of Broadband in Rural Alberta, Canada
Summary. Rural Albertans shaped how they understood and used the SuperNet, a government broadband infrastructure project. The research found that community members actively interpreted the technology through their existing internet practices and local needs. Economic, political, and cultural factors at provincial and national levels influenced how rural users adopted and creatively appropriated broadband access.
