Analysis of Rural Microfinance Sustainability: Does Local Insight Driven Governance Work?

Summary. This study examines sustainable microfinance models in rural western Rajasthan, India, surveying 480 respondents across three districts. The research finds that social, economic, governance, and environmental factors significantly influence microfinance sustainability. Sustainable microfinance delivers financial stability, better risk management, improved reputation, and competitive advantage for managers while creating long-term benefits for borrowers and rural communities.
