Patriarchal bargains in protected spaces: a new strategy for agricultural and rural development innovation in the western hills of Nepal

Summary. Rural women in Nepal's western hills need protected spaces to negotiate for their rights within patriarchal systems, rather than relying on broad gender mainstreaming approaches. The study found that women's limited control over land and land-related services undermines their ability to secure benefits from agricultural development unless they have dedicated niches where they can struggle and bargain for their rights.
