Borrowers characteristics, credit terms and loan repayment performance among clients of microfinance institutions (MFIs): Evidence from rural Uganda
Summary. This study examined how borrower characteristics and credit terms affect loan repayment performance at microfinance institutions in rural Uganda. Researchers surveyed 51 MFIs and found that credit terms significantly predict repayment performance, while borrower characteristics do not. The findings suggest MFI managers should adjust credit terms flexibly to improve repayment rates and reduce poverty in rural areas.
