M. Ross Brian, Cameron Erin, Greenwood David · 2020 · Educational Research and Reviews

Summary. A medical school in Northern Ontario places second-year students in remote and rural communities for four-week clinical rotations to prepare them for rural practice. Students valued clinical training but undervalued community engagement, while teachers prioritized broader place-based learning. The research recommends curricula explicitly address these expectation gaps to improve rural medical education outcomes.
