Promoting Community Renewable Energy as a tool for Sustainable Development in Rural Areas of Thailand

Summary. Thailand's Ministry of Energy promoted 26 community renewable energy projects across rural areas, primarily using biogas and solar thermal systems. These projects involved 1,638 households and generated 845 kW of thermal energy and 86 kW of electricity. Projects cost an average of 1.3 million Thai baht with 60% government co-investment, producing combined annual savings or income of 5.53 million baht while supporting environmental protection.
