Digital Agriculture Policies and Strategies for Innovations in the Agri-Food Systems—Cases of Five West African Countries
Summary. Five West African countries—Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria—are expanding digital agriculture initiatives to drive economic growth and food security. Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire lead in rural internet and electricity access, while Benin and Nigeria have developed dedicated digital agriculture roadmaps. Mobile connectivity remains below 60% across all five countries. The study identifies gaps in infrastructure, governance, and cross-sector coordination that must be addressed for these nations to compete effectively in the global digital economy.
