Integration of renewable resources into the electricity energy matrix. Practical case applied to a small rural municipality

Daniel Dasí-Crespo, Carlos Roldán-Blay, Guillermo Escrivá-Escrivà, Carlos Roldán-Porta · 2023 · Renewable Energy and Power Quality Journal

Summary. This paper designs and manages renewable energy resources for a small rural municipality in Spain's Valencian Community. The researchers modeled how solar, wind, and other renewables could meet the municipality's annual electricity demand while maximizing self-consumption and reducing grid dependence. Results demonstrate that rural communities can achieve high renewable self-sufficiency, supporting Europe's energy transition away from fossil fuels.
