SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE, INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT AMONG INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF TRIPURA
Summary. Indigenous peoples in Tripura use traditional knowledge systems for sustainable agriculture, including mixed cropping, seed preservation, and agroforestry. These practices build ecological and livelihood capital while supporting food security and climate resilience. However, land-use change, commercialization, and youth migration threaten these systems. The study recommends combining indigenous knowledge with scientific approaches while protecting community rights and decision-making authority.
