Responsible research and innovation: a productive model for the future of medical innovation

Olivier Demers‐Payette, Pascale Lehoux, Geneviève Daudelin · 2016 · Journal of Responsible Innovation

Summary. This paper examines how responsible research and innovation (RRI) applies to healthcare by conducting focus groups in Montreal with patients, clinicians, engineers, designers, and innovation managers. The researchers use these discussions about technological solutions to healthcare challenges to develop a more detailed understanding of RRI's four dimensions: anticipation, reflexivity, inclusion, and responsiveness. The work shows how responsibility in medical innovation requires balancing perspectives across different stakeholder groups.
