NEET Rural–Urban Ecosystems: The Role of Urban Social Innovation Diffusion in Supporting Sustainable Rural Pathways to Education, Employment, and Training

Summary. Rural youth not in education, employment, or training face greater marginalization than urban peers due to poor infrastructure, limited education access, and few job opportunities. This study analyzes 51 social interventions from the EU Youth Guarantee Programme to identify best practices in social innovation. The authors argue that sustainable rural-urban ecosystems enabling social innovation diffusion can create effective pathways for rural youth to access education, employment, and training opportunities.
