Digital Divide in Rural Native American Homes: A Student Perspective

Summary. Rural Native American households in western North Dakota have limited internet access despite increased broadband availability, due to economic barriers and device costs. A qualitative study interviewed Native American university students about their home digital environments. The research identifies cost of access and technical knowledge as persistent obstacles preventing internet use for education and employment in these communities.
