Design and Simulation of Off-Grid Solar/Mini-Hydro Renewable Energy System using Homer Pro Software: Case of Muyuka Rural Community

Tamanjong Fru Fofang, Emmanuel Tanyi · 2020 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Summary. Rural electrification in Cameroon faces barriers including dispersed populations, terrain challenges, and low revenues that deter investment. This paper designs a hybrid solar and mini-hydropower system for Muyuka using HOMER Pro simulation software. The off-grid renewable energy approach replaces costly, polluting diesel generators and offers a decentralized solution to provide reliable electricity to remote communities, potentially reducing rural-to-urban migration.
