SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF LITHUANIA

Summary. Social entrepreneurship plays a significant role in rural development in Lithuania. The paper examines trends in Lithuanian social enterprises and identifies successful examples to inform policy recommendations. While the government has taken steps to support social entrepreneurship and innovation, substantial improvements remain necessary. Family business traditions are weak in Lithuania, having existed for only about 20 years, but rural areas show potential for young social enterprises, particularly in agriculture-based family farms.
