Indigenous Knowledges Driving Technological Innovation

Summary. Indigenous peoples use geospatial technologies to protect tribal self-determination and preserve cultural knowledge. However, Western geospatial tools misrepresent Indigenous ontologies and epistemologies. The authors advocate developing new technologies aligned with Indigenous ways of knowing to better express and preserve cultural heritage while supporting cultural survival.
