Summary. Digital payment innovations including UPI, mobile banking, and Aadhaar-enabled services are expanding financial inclusion in rural Pune, India. Young adults and those with mobile internet access adopt these tools most readily, with village shops increasingly accepting QR code payments. Digital finance reduces transaction costs, improves transparency, and enables credit access for traditionally excluded populations. However, low digital literacy, weak infrastructure, and social barriers persist in rural areas, requiring targeted literacy programs and locally-relevant financial products.
