Toward Sustainable Rural Electrification: Optimization of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems in Mediterranean Climates
Summary. This study develops an optimization framework for hybrid renewable energy systems designed to electrify a remote village in Jordan. The researchers analyzed multiple system configurations to minimize energy costs and environmental impact while meeting annual electricity demand. Results show that increasing solar photovoltaic capacity reduces emissions significantly and lowers overall energy costs. The optimized system design provides a replicable model for rural electrification in similar Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
