Has the Development of Broadband Infrastructure Improved Household Energy Consumption in Rural China?
Summary. Broadband infrastructure expansion in rural China increases household energy consumption and accelerates adoption of cleaner fuels. Higher-income and better-educated households benefit most from broadband access. The policy drives change through technological innovation, improved energy efficiency, and greater environmental awareness. These findings show broadband's role in supporting China's carbon neutrality goals and energy transition.
