Using European Union co-financing in entrepreneurship for development of rural areas in the Latgale region

Summary. The Latgale region in Latvia implemented 197 LEADER programme projects that distributed €3.64 million in EU co-financing to rural entrepreneurs. Funds enabled farmers to build facilities, purchase equipment, and diversify production. Entrepreneurs faced significant barriers including difficulty securing matching funds, complex bureaucratic procedures, and weak project management knowledge.
