Challenges of sustaining off-grid power generation in Nigeria rural communities
Summary. Nigeria's off-grid power projects fail at high rates due to poor planning, technology gaps, and operational challenges. The paper identifies why state governments and international donors struggle to sustain remote electricity systems where grid extension is impractical. It recommends improved planning before installation and stronger government involvement to prevent project abandonment and deliver reliable power to rural communities.
