Case study on demand side management‐based cost optimized battery integrated hybrid renewable energy system for remote rural electrification

Dhavala Rajegowda Kalpana, H. N. Suresh, Rajanna Siddaiah, Ramesh Mala · 2022 · Energy Storage

Summary. This study designs a hybrid renewable energy system combining solar, wind, diesel, and battery storage to electrify remote villages in India. Using demand-side management strategies—load shifting and strategic conservation—the system reduces net present costs by 37% compared to conventional approaches. Zinc-bromide batteries with predictive dispatch control deliver the optimal configuration for village clusters, and the model can be applied to similar geographic regions.
