Broadband Network Simulations Towards Cost Assessments: Case of a Namibian Rural Healthcare

Ronald Karon, Nomusa Dlodlo, Alfredo Terzoli · 2024

Summary. This study compares the cost-effectiveness of Television Whitespaces (TVWS) networks versus fixed LTE broadband for delivering telehealth services in rural Namibia's Kunene region. Using network simulations, researchers assessed infrastructure requirements and costs for both technologies. The findings show that TVWS networks offer a more cost-effective solution for supporting video-based healthcare services in remote hospitals with limited broadband access.
