Benefits, Barriers, and Intentions/Desires of Nurses Related to Distance Learning in Rural Island Communities
Summary. Nurses on Hawaii's Neighbor Islands identified distance learning as valuable for continuing education but faced significant barriers. Cost emerged as the dominant concern across benefits, barriers, and future intentions. The study reveals that hospitals need stronger organizational support and updated curriculum approaches to make distance learning effective for rural nursing staff.
