Is the Rural Population Caught in the Whirlwind of the Digital Divide?
Summary. Rural populations in Spain face significant digital divides compared to urban areas, particularly among vulnerable groups like the elderly, unemployed, and women. Using structural equation modeling on survey data, the study reveals that digital access and technology use gaps correlate directly with users' socioeconomic status. The findings demonstrate that technology adoption in rural agriculture requires urgent policy intervention to address inequality and ensure equitable access across demographic groups.
