Does Renewable Energy (RE) Contribute to Rural Livelihood? Evidence from Nepal
Summary. Renewable energy adoption, particularly solar systems, significantly improves rural livelihoods in Nepal. Solar-powered irrigation increases crop yields and farm income while reducing reliance on biomass fuels, improving air quality and health. Community involvement and local governance prove essential for successful implementation. Despite high upfront costs, long-term benefits including lower energy expenses and environmental gains justify continued investment in renewable energy for sustainable rural development.
