Driving local community transformation through participatory rural entrepreneurship development

Summary. Rural entrepreneurship development drives local transformation and employment in remote communities. This action research in rural Lagos, Nigeria implemented a ten-stage practical approach using community-based organizations and revolving loans to fund rural enterprises including fisheries, barbering, piggeries, and snail production. Successful funded entrepreneurs and CBOs became models for expanding entrepreneurship and employment, lifting people out of poverty and informing rural development policy.
