The issue of digital divide in rural areas of the European Union
Summary. Rural areas across the European Union face a digital divide that limits access to internet and ICT opportunities compared to urban regions. Population aging and rural depopulation compound this inequality, creating barriers to digital convergence. The paper examines factors preventing rural communities from achieving equal digital access and socioeconomic development opportunities available in cities.
