Identifying the effects of technology acceptance model constructs on small-scale renewable energy adoption in rural contexts
Summary. This meta-analysis synthesizes eight studies involving 2,675 rural respondents to examine why farmers and households adopt small-scale renewable energy. Using the technology acceptance model, the researchers found that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use both significantly drive adoption behavior. Perceived usefulness proved more consistent across rural contexts. The study concludes that adoption decisions depend primarily on expected economic and functional benefits, suggesting rural renewable energy programs should emphasize practical value.
