THE DIGITAL DIVIDE FOR RURAL PEOPLE IN SHARKIA GOVERNORATE

Summary. A study of rural residents in Sharkia Governorate, Egypt measured the digital divide across availability, capabilities, uses, and outcomes. Researchers surveyed 203 people and found significant gaps between men and women, with men having substantially higher digital access and engagement. Age, education, income, technology training, and internet use all influenced the size of the digital divide.
