Modelling and Simulation of Photovoltaic-Variable Speed Diesel Generator Hybrid Power System for Off-Grid Rural Electrification
Summary. This paper develops computer models of hybrid power systems combining solar panels and diesel generators for rural areas without grid electricity. The researchers compared two generator types and found that variable-speed diesel generators outperform conventional constant-speed generators. The models, built in MATLAB/Simulink and validated against industry software, enable researchers to test different power management strategies for off-grid rural electrification.
