Digital Economy, Green Innovation and Urban-Rural Income Gap—Analysis Based on Prefecture-Level City Panel Data of China
Summary. Using panel data from 273 Chinese cities between 2011 and 2019, this study finds that digital economy development drives green innovation, which in turn widens the urban-rural income gap in the short term. However, long-term analysis reveals a positive feedback loop where all three factors reinforce each other. The authors recommend governments balance digital and green innovation promotion with policies that control income inequality to achieve sustainable development.
