A Critical Analysis of the Digital Divide and ICT Literacy of Grama Panchayati Libraries Supervisors and Users in Bangalore Rural District, Karnataka

Summary. Rural public libraries in Bangalore Rural District, Karnataka lack adequate ICT infrastructure and digital literacy. The study found that only 21% of the 84 rural libraries surveyed have computer systems, with just 82 computers total. Library supervisors and users show low ICT literacy levels. The research concludes that most rural libraries must urgently develop digital infrastructure and improve staff and user digital skills to serve community information needs.
