Exploring business growth and eco innovation in rural small firms

Summary. Rural small business owners implement eco-innovation by reducing waste and raw material consumption. While growth wasn't their primary motivation, all eight studied firms gained economic benefits from environmental practices. Rurality mattered significantly because owners felt climate change impacts directly and faced visibility within local communities. The findings show eco-innovation can simultaneously address environmental and economic goals in rural enterprises.
