ODL for Agricultural Development and Rural Poverty Reduction: A Comparative Analysis of Innovation and Best Practice in Asia and the Pacific

Summary. Open and distance learning (ODL) programs can effectively support agricultural development and rural poverty reduction in Asia and the Pacific. Analysis of five case studies from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and the Pacific Islands identified key success factors: strong motivation, cultural sensitivity, adequate infrastructure, stakeholder engagement, and sound teaching methods. Successful programs emphasize collaboration, public-private partnerships, technology use, gender sensitivity, and sustainability.
