The importance of broadband access and 5G for the implementation of precision agriculture in rural areas of the Republic of Kazakhstan

K. Meirambek, M. Kamysbayev · 2026 · Problems of AgriMarket

Summary. Telecommunications infrastructure, particularly broadband and 5G networks, directly enables precision agriculture in rural Kazakhstan. The study demonstrates that signal stability and bandwidth improvements from 4G to 5G enhance IoT systems, drone operations, and automated machinery accuracy, reducing errors and improving water efficiency. However, significant regional disparities in digital infrastructure create "digital agrarian inequality." The authors conclude that expanding broadband coverage and optimizing 5G deployment are essential for sustainable, high-tech agricultural production.
