International immigration and entrepreneurship in rural areas of the Spanish Pyrenees
Summary. Immigrant entrepreneurs in Spain's Pyrenees create innovative businesses in farming and tourism, introducing new products to niche markets and strengthening local sustainability values. However, their companies remain small and undercapitalized, producing limited economic impact and job creation. The study challenges the focus on retirement and low-skilled migration by documenting how immigrant professionals and lifestyle movers contribute to rural economies through entrepreneurship.
