The Impact of Agricultural Innovation on Social Structures in Rural Communities of Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe
Summary. Agricultural innovation in rural Zimbabwe transforms social structures while preserving traditional leadership. Mobile money, solar systems, and conservation agriculture improve productivity and resilience, particularly benefiting women and youth. Traditional leaders increasingly share governance with digitally literate individuals. The study identifies capacity constraints and conflicts between old and new systems, recommending technology access, community awareness programs, and partnerships between traditional and modern leadership for equitable rural development.
