Role of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in Empowerment of Rural Women in Odisha: Aligning Lifelong Learning with NEP-2020

Summary. Open and distance learning through Indian universities significantly improves educational attainment and social empowerment for rural women in Odisha, increasing their confidence and community participation. However, weak employment linkages limit livelihood gains. Digital infrastructure gaps, household responsibilities, and low digital literacy remain major barriers. The study recommends strengthening digital access, localized support systems, and policy alignment with India's National Education Policy 2020.
