Rural entrepreneurship in Tanzania: why are micro and small enterprises not creating value in furniture manufacturing industry?

Rural furniture manufacturing micro and small enterprises in Tanzania fail to create value due to multiple interconnected constraints: insufficient financial capital, outdated technology, limited market access, raw material scarcity, inadequate skills, and weak commitment. Legal issues, supplier relationships, customer demand, competition, middlemen involvement, and transport difficulties further restrict value creation. The study finds that constraint severity varies across enterprises based on local infrastructure availability.
