A Comparative Bayesian Hierarchical Modelling Approach to Off-Grid System Adoption in Kenyan Rural Communities

Summary. This study develops a Bayesian hierarchical model to analyze adoption of off-grid solar systems across rural Kenyan communities. The model reveals significant variation in adoption rates between communities. Access to agricultural extension services strongly predicts adoption, with households receiving extension services 2.3 times more likely to adopt solar systems. The findings support integrating energy access programs with agricultural extension to improve off-grid technology uptake.
