Communicating climate change and energy in rural Africa: A case analysis to explain how participatory communication can support transition to renewables and adoption of solar technologies in rural Africa
Summary. Rural African communities reject solar energy solutions not because of the technology itself, but because energy initiatives fail to communicate effectively with them. When projects use participatory communication that includes local voices in designing messages, rural stakeholders shift their attitudes and accept renewable energy. The research shows that grassroots, community-led approaches to energy transition succeed where top-down initiatives struggle.
