Techno-economic analysis and optimization of integrated renewable energy systems for rural communities
Summary. A hybrid solar-wind-biomass-battery system designed for a commercial platform in Maiduguri, Nigeria proves more cost-effective and environmentally beneficial than standalone alternatives. The optimized configuration includes 240 kW of solar panels, 180 kWh battery storage, and a 140 kW converter, achieving a levelized cost of $2.80/kWh and reducing carbon emissions by 40% compared to biomass alone. The system's viability depends on discount rates and capital subsidies.
