Socio-Economic Drivers of Renewable Energy Consumption: A Dynamic Panel Analysis of Rural and Urban Contexts in Europe

Henrique Viana Espinosa de Oliveira, Ana Brasão, Víctor Moutinho, Luís Miguel Marques · 2025 · Energies

Summary. This study analyzes renewable energy consumption across 29 European countries from 2000 to 2024, comparing rural and urban contexts. The findings demonstrate that renewable energy transitions succeed when aligned with employment, education, and regional investment strategies that address socio-economic conditions specific to each area.
