A Policy Review on Off-Grid Solar Energy for Sustainable Rural Electrification under the Philippine Energy Plan: A Case Study within LANECO-Franchised Areas

Danilo Jr. Orain · 2025 · International Journal on Science and Technology

Summary. This study examines how national energy policies promoting off-grid solar systems are implemented locally in the Philippines, focusing on rural areas served by LANECO. Despite existing renewable energy laws and electrification programs, rural households still lack reliable electricity. The research identifies technical and financial barriers to solar adoption and compares the economic viability of solar systems against grid electricity, providing recommendations to improve local policy implementation for sustainable rural electrification.
