Modelling and optimization of a hybrid renewable energy systems for rural electrification in Nigeria: A review
Summary. Nigeria's rural areas suffer from severe electricity access gaps, with only 43% having moderate access compared to 90% in cities. This review examines hybrid renewable energy systems combining solar, wind, hydro, and biomass as alternatives to expensive grid extension and fossil fuel dependence. Analysis of projects from 2015 onwards shows islanded HRES configurations dominate rural deployments, offering improved power stability and sustainability for Nigerian communities.
